Female carjacker runs over SUV owner

A teenager in Brampton, Ontario allegedly stole a Porsche Cayanne while pretending to be a prospective buyer last week.

In a video recorded on Sept. 6, the woman can be seen ringing the doorbell of a home in Mississauga, a neighboring city of Canada’s capital, Toronto.

“Hello, I’m here for the Porsche,” 18-year-old Sarah Badshaw said in the footage captured on a doorbell camera.

She appeared at the home to inquire about the white 2022 Porsche Cayenne that the owner had listed for sale in Auto Trader.

The owner, who has not been identified, asked if the teenager wanted to test drive vehicle.

She told him that she was waiting for her father, but innocently asked if she could “take a look” at the vehicle.

The video jumped to a camera over the driveway, where the SUV was parked.

At that point, Badshaw was in the driver’s seat, and the owner, whose face is blurred, got out of the passenger side and walked around the front of the Porsche.

That’s when the SUV jerks briefly and the victim went about checking both of the the driver-side doors, which were locked, before walking behind the car.

At that point, the engine roared to life and Badshaw slammed the car into reverse and ran the man over.

He was dragged all the way into the street, where an oncoming car blasted the horn as it was cut off, and Badshaw hit a car parked across from the driveway.

Miraculously, the victim was able to stand up and yelled at the suspect, who had trouble putting the car into the correct gear.

She apparently managed to flee, which was not shown in the footage.

Police released the video the next day on social media in an attempt to track down the suspect.

The video went completely viral, which led to the teenager’s surrender and arrest the next day.

Peel police have since shared their gratitude of the ‘power of social media’ in helping them catch the suspect.

Const. Tyler Bell said that the shocking video was shared nearly 100,000 times after they posted it to social media, which allowed the footage to reach “millions of viewers” and helped their “message to be spread” to the public.

From there, the department “received numerous tips from the public,” which helped them identify Badshaw and “pressure her” into surrendering.

“First and foremost, this speaks to the importance and significance of having home surveillance footage, especially quality footage like this but it also speaks to the power of social media,” Bell remarked.

He also noted that the victim could have been very seriously injured by the “brazen” carjacker, “if not for some luck and some physics.”

“She was held in custody pending a bail hearing on September 20, at the Ontario Court of Justice in Brampton,” the department wrote.

Badshaw was hit charges for dangerous operation causing bodily harm, theft of a motor vehicle, failure to remain after accident resulting in bodily harm, and driving without a license.

Teenage crook is connected to multiple crimes

The young criminal apparently was also charged with other previous fraud cases in the same city, and has been “‘linked to numerous investigations.”

Badshaw is also reportedly wanted by additional police agencies in the Greater Toronto Area in connection with other investigations.

Police in Brampton are seeking her accomplices who were seen in the video footage driving two luxury vehicles, a grey and a blue SUV.

“There is a saying in policing that I am sure we have all heard before – you cant outrun the chopper,” Bell added.

“But in Sarah’s case here you can’t outrun the share button. This was viewed so many times, it was shared so many times and it led to an influx of tips coming in.”
