A Florida couple is accused of attacking a mother in broad daylight after confronting her for disciplining her 4-year-old son outside a shopping plaza.

According to police, the confrontation spiraled so badly the woman’s shirt was ripped off while she desperately tried to get away.

The mother told investigators her young son had been misbehaving and spat in her face.

She said she responded by smacking him once in the mouth and again on the side of his torso.

That is when 66-year-old Terry Williams allegedly stepped in.

According to the arrest report, Terry claimed he worked for the Florida Department of Children and Families and told the woman she could not hit her child.

Police later said neither Terry nor his wife actually work for DCF.

The woman told officers Terry eventually walked away after she told him to leave her alone.

But moments later, his wife, 63-year-old Mary Thalia Williams, allegedly approached her “aggressively” and continued confronting her about disciplining the child.

The victim said Mary positioned herself between the woman and her vehicle and refused to let her leave.

An altercation erupted after the mother tried moving Mary away from the car.

According to police, Mary allegedly scratched and choked the victim during the struggle.

The woman later told investigators she felt close to passing out.

Witnesses said the confrontation quickly turned chaotic.

According to the report, both Terry and Mary allegedly grabbed at the victim while she tried escaping.

The woman’s shirt was ultimately ripped off, leaving her standing outside wearing only a bra.

A witness told WPLG-TV the victim did not appear to be fighting back.

“They were on both sides, and they were just grabbing her, and they were ripping the scrub shirt off of her,” the witness said.

Police also accused Mary of climbing into the victim’s vehicle, turning it off and taking her car keys.

The couple was later arrested.

Mary was charged with burglary and simple battery, while Terry was charged with battery.

Authorities said Mary was held on a $5,000 bond. Terry later bonded out on $2,500.

Elsewhere in Arizona, a couple accused of stealing a $4,000 bottle of luxury cognac from a high-end steakhouse allegedly carried out the theft with what investigators described as a carefully coordinated distraction.

Surveillance footage from Three Thirty Three Restaurant in Tempe allegedly showed the pair calmly stealing a prized bottle of Louis XIII cognac from a rolling service cart.

Restaurant staff said they had never seen anything like it.

“You didn’t need to rob us,” restaurant veteran John DeVries told KSAZ-TV. “You didn’t need to come in and steal.”

According to investigators, the pair booked a table using a fake name and phone number.

Police said the man allegedly distracted restaurant staff while the woman slipped back inside and hid the rare bottle inside her purse.

The two then allegedly rushed out of the restaurant and fled in a black SUV.

Authorities later identified the suspects as Channel Miller and Matthew Steve after both voluntarily turned themselves in.

But the case took another turn after investigators reviewed additional evidence.

Police later announced Miller was no longer considered the female suspect seen in surveillance footage.

Authorities said newly obtained evidence determined she was not involved in the theft.

Steve, however, was processed on felony theft charges before being released following an initial court appearance.

Investigators also claimed the suspects may be tied to the Romanian Travelers criminal group, which authorities say targets businesses nationwide through theft and fraud schemes.

As for the stolen bottle itself, DeVries said the restaurant will eventually get it back — but it can no longer legally be served.

“It’s not that I’m upset,” DeVries said. “I’m disappointed. They violated 100 people in this restaurant.”

In Florida, another pair was accused of trying to walk away with tens of thousands of dollars in luxury goods after allegedly sneaking into a guest room at one of Palm Beach’s most expensive hotels.

Police said Gino Gusich and Stephanie Lichay, both 35 and from Illinois, entered a room at The Breakers after finding the door left partially open.

Authorities said the pair allegedly slipped inside shortly after 1:28 a.m. and spent only minutes inside before leaving with luxury items.

According to police, the stolen haul included cash, a Chanel purse and a Hermès Mini Kelly bag valued at more than $32,500.

Investigators said the alleged theft unraveled almost immediately.

As Gusich and Lichay left the room, police said they were confronted by the guests returning to the suite.

Authorities said the victims demanded their belongings back after catching the pair in the hallway.

Police said Lichay was allegedly carrying the designer bags and other stolen items while Gusich allegedly held the cash.

The pair reportedly handed everything back after being confronted.

The Breakers’ surveillance system also captured the entire encounter, according to investigators.

Officers responded within minutes after receiving reports of the theft.

The pair was arrested and charged with burglary and grand theft exceeding $20,000.

Another hotel guest later told CBS12 the accusations were difficult to believe given the luxury setting.

“You’d think people that are staying at such a nice place wouldn’t stoop that low,” the guest said.

“And they’d have the money and resources to not have to resort to anything like that.”

Both suspects were later released on bond.
