A California man banged on a family’s front door demanding to know where their daughter was before forcing his way inside, according to police.

Jason Nichols, 30, showed up at a home in Fairfield last Tuesday wearing a trench coat and immediately began pounding on the door, security footage shows.

The video captured him smashing the home’s doorbell camera and shouting, “Where is your daughter?” as he refused to leave.

Police say Nichols now faces charges of burglary, vandalism, and making criminal threats after the confrontation escalated inside the home.

Investigators say he approached calmly at first but quickly turned aggressive when the homeowner refused to let him in.

At the time, the homeowner’s pregnant wife and their 5-year-old child hid in the garage while Nichols remained at the front door.

The homeowner spoke to him remotely through the Ring camera system as Nichols demanded entry.

“I just want to make sure everything is OK. There seems to be something going on,” Nichols said.

The homeowner pushed back and told him to leave.

“What do you mean?” the homeowner responded before warning him to get off the property.

Nichols became increasingly aggressive, yelling, “Where’s your daughter? Who’s in there with you? Open this f—— door or I’m breaking it down.”

The homeowner answered with a direct warning.

“I’m giving you a chance — get the f— out of my house,” he said.

Nichols then shouted, “My name is Harry Dresden, mother f—! This is my neighborhood,” identifying himself as a fictional wizard character.

At one point, Nichols ripped down a hanging decoration near the entryway and continued threatening to “f—— kill” the homeowner while kicking at the door.

Police say he eventually got inside by breaking through a gate and entering through a sliding glass door.

The homeowner returned during the break-in and confronted Nichols with a shovel. Officers later confirmed both men suffered head injuries during the encounter.

Police arrested Nichols near the home and transported him to a hospital before booking him into the Solano County Jail. His bond was set at $250,000. Authorities say Nichols lives behind the victim’s home.

Investigators later linked Nichols to a separate incident involving a child that allegedly took place on April 5.

A witness came forward after his arrest, and police added a charge of annoying or molesting a child under 18.

“Based on the investigation, officers determined there was probable cause to arrest Nichols for additional crimes,” the department said.

Police said the family was not injured during the incident.

“We are grateful that the family is safe and commend our officers for their swift response in bringing this dangerous situation to a safe resolution,” the department added.

Nichols is scheduled to appear in court on April 23, according to jail records.

In a separate California case, a man was convicted after breaking into a woman’s home and licking her toes while she was asleep.

Cristian Solorio, 28, first encountered the victim in February 2025 at her workplace, where prosecutors say he immediately became fixated on her.

Officials say he repeatedly showed up at her job and waited outside to approach her when she left.

“Solorio would show up at her work multiple times a day and loiter outside of her work to contact her when she left,” the Stanislaus County District Attorney said.

He asked her out several times and even sent her a letter proposing a trip to Mexico.

“This harassment went on for several weeks,” prosecutors said.

After learning where she lived, Solorio went to her home and entered after her father left. The victim woke up to find him inside her bedroom.

Authorities say he was “sucking on her toes” when she woke up.

The woman spoke to him calmly in an effort to keep the situation from escalating while family members entered the room and told him to leave. He ran from the house.

The victim called 911, triggering an investigation by the Sheriff’s Special Victims Unit. Detectives later identified and arrested Solorio.

He admitted to breaking into the home to contact the victim, according to investigators.

Solorio pleaded guilty to felony stalking and breaking into a residence with intent to commit a sex act.

Prosecutors say he is also facing federal drug trafficking charges. He must now register as a sex offender.

In Pennsylvania, a homeowner shot and killed a man who tried to break into his home late at night, according to state police.

Troopers responded to a home on Locust Street in Somerset Township around 2 a.m. after receiving a report of a shooting.

Investigators found a man dead near the rear of the home with a gunshot wound to the head.

Police say the homeowner woke up to someone banging on his kitchen window and demanding to be let inside.

The intruder then broke the window and tried to enter the house.

The homeowner warned the man that he was armed before firing when the intruder continued advancing, according to investigators.

Authorities detained the homeowner and took him to the state police barracks during the investigation.

A preliminary review found the shooting appeared to be self-defense.
