A Pennsylvania man has confessed to fatally stabbing his neighbor during a confrontation during their two-year feud over loud snoring.
Pennsylvania man arrested for stabbing agitated neighbor
According to a statement from the Montgomery County District Attorney’s Office, officers from the Upper Moreland Township Police Department responded to a stabbing incident in the early evening of January 15.
The person who reported the stabbing identified himself as 56-year-old Christopher James Casey, according to the cops.
First responders found 62-year-old Robert Wallace approximately 50 feet away from the residence when they rolled up.
Wallace, who was still alive at the time, had multiple stab wounds and was transported to Abington Hospital, where he later died.
Casey, who had a stab wound on his right thigh, was taken to the same hospital for treatment.
Police reportedly found a “large military-style knife” and a cellphone on Casey’s front porch. Additionally, the window screen the at belonged to his door was lying on the grass, with the window wide open.
Pennsylvania man killed by stabbing during long running dispute
Investigations revealed that the men were known to the police department due to frequent disputes, including arguments about Casey’s loud snoring, which Wallace could hear through the shared wall of their homes.
During this incident, Wallace reportedly went to Casey’s home while Casey was eating dinner, and removed the screen from Casey’s window, which was accessible from the porch.
An argument ensued, during which Casey allegedly used a large, military-style knife to stab Wallace multiple times. Blood spatter was reportedly found both inside and outside Casey’s home.
An autopsy determined Wallace’s cause of death to be multiple stab wounds to the chest, and his manner of death was ruled a homicide.
Court documents indicated that Casey told police he and Wallace had talked for about 20 minutes through Casey’s window.
When they were wrapping up Casey claimed Wallace had relaxed and even offered to foot the bill for Casey to get nasal surgery.
He went to shake hands with Casey, who said he unlocked the door with a knife and stun gun in hand.
“Casey described Wallace as ‘volatile,’ ‘very strong,’ and an ‘angry’ person,” according to the charging documents.
“Casey said he did not believe Wallace’s intention to ‘work this out’ and ‘shake hands’ was genuine. Consequently, Casey decided to ‘surprise him’ by stabbing Wallace with a knife.”
He was arrested three days after the autopsy and charged with third-degree murder. He later pleaded guilty to manslaughter and possession of an instrument of crime.
Casey was sentenced in Montgomery County Court to 11.5 to 23 months in county jail, followed by three years of probation.
Las Vegas man guns down neighbor
Elsewhere, a man in Las Vegas has been detained after allegedly fatally shooting his next-door neighbor following an argument during which the victim exposed himself.
In May, officers from the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department found a 47-year-old Joe Moreno with multiple gunshot wounds, who later died at the scene.
Police arrested the alleged shooter, 32-year-old Eddi Moreno, who was unrelated to the victim, for murder.
Eddi Moreno came home to find his neighbor, Joe Moreno, “pacing back and forth” outside after being locked out of his home due to a domestic altercation.
According to a witness, Joe was agitated and yelling incoherently at Eddi, who claimed to have not known him prior to that moment.
At that point, Eddi pulled a gun out of his backpack and claimed that Joe was trying to break into his home.
In response, Joe reportedly hopped up on a boulder in the yard and exposed himself, then began “thrusting towards Eddi, who apparently had enough and started shooting.
“That’s what he gets. He’s not going to do that in front of my kids. Are you crazy?” Eddi reportedly said about his actions.
He hit Joe multiple times and police recovered five shell casings at the scene. Part of the argument was captured on another neighbor’s doorbell camera.
Eddi Moreno was arrested for murder and is being held at the Clark County Jail without bond.
