A stabbed 6-year-old boy made it to a neighbor’s doorstep and collapsed inside, becoming the first break in a Louisiana massacre that left four people dead.
Kaegan Jude Solet, 47, allegedly made it as far as the neighbor’s door behind the injured child, knocked him down and fled before the boy got inside and lost consciousness, WWL reported.
That desperate escape brought deputies to the 200 block of Ashland Drive in Houma on September 12, where the Terrebonne Parish Sheriff’s Office said a juvenile was suffering from apparent stab wounds.
Acadian Ambulance Service Air Med flew the child to an out-of-area hospital in critical condition.
What began with the injured boy at a neighbor’s house quickly led deputies to two nearby homes, where four people were found dead.
Detectives then took over the Ashland Drive investigation, working through multiple scenes while speaking with witnesses and building the case around what had happened.
Solet was later named a person of interest, and the sheriff’s office said the boy and the neighbor helped during the search that ended with his capture early Sunday morning.

The suspect also needed hospital treatment for injuries linked to the alleged attack before he was released Tuesday and jailed on four counts of first-degree murder and one count of attempted first-degree murder, according to the sheriff’s office.
The boy’s father told people on Facebook that his son had multiple stab wounds but was stable.
“Please pray for my little man as he recovers he’s so so strong and such a fighter,” the father wrote. “Current status (he’s stable) thank everybody for reaching out.”
On X, the father shared memorials that called the boy a “superhero” while the family mourned four relatives killed in the attack.
“I just wanna thank everybody for the prayers I’m trying to tell everyone thank you it’s just a lot right now,” he wrote, adding that his son “appreciates every last one of you reaching out and helping and praying.”
In California, another knife attack left a mother and daughter badly hurt after a stranger with a kitchen knife allegedly bolted from a Starbucks disturbance into their open garage.
The Sacramento County Sheriff’s Office said 23-year-old Faryeshyi Allahdin attacked an unidentified 63-year-old woman and her 26-year-old daughter at a Foothill Farms home in July.
Sergeant Edward Igoe, a Sacramento County Sheriff’s Office spokesman, said the women and Allahdin had no connection before he entered the garage.
“Absolutely no relationship between any of them. This monster just saw an open garage, saw a victim and immediately started attacking,” Igoe said.
Both women went to a hospital in stable condition after suffering major injuries from multiple stab and cut wounds, the sheriff’s office said.
The morning had started at a Starbucks near Elkhorn Boulevard and Diablo Drive, where workers called 911 around 6:30 a.m. on July 15 about a knife-wielding man inside the store.
The sheriff’s office said employees fled to a back room and blocked themselves in “with heavy objects” after the man made it behind the counter.
In a seven-minute briefing video released Saturday, the sheriff’s office played a 911 call from a woman who said the store had locked its doors while the man continued banging on things.
“We’re having to lock the doors right now, but he keeps banging on everything,” the woman told dispatchers, adding that he appeared to be homeless.
“He has a knife in his hand,” she said.
The same caller later told dispatchers the man had walked away from the Starbucks and said his stomach looked bandaged, as if he had recently been injured.
Security video from a nearby home later placed the suspect running north through a Diablo Drive neighborhood, where he appeared to stop and stab himself in the stomach several times, according to the sheriff’s office.
A deputy searching nearby soon saw a man who matched the Starbucks description, dressed in gray pants and an open zip-up hoodie with his bare chest exposed.
When deputies moved toward him, the man crossed the street and went into an open garage on the 5700 block of Diablo Drive as the 63-year-old woman was getting into her car.
Igoe said Allahdin attacked her from behind while her adult daughter watched from inside the same garage.
“Unbeknownst to him, her adult daughter was also in the garage at the time, witnessing what was happening to her mother,” Igoe said, according to Fox40 News.
The daughter then jumped into the attack to save her mother, Igoe said.
“God bless her, she then went after the suspect in an attempt to save her mother’s life,” Igoe said.
Igoe described the intervention as a “very heroic act,” saying the younger woman pushed Allahdin off her mother before he turned the knife on her.
A deputy’s dashcam video showed the patrol vehicle pulling into the driveway while the attack was still underway, and the sheriff’s office said the violence lasted only seconds.
“As the suspect continued actively stabbing the daughter, the deputy fired his handgun toward the suspect,” the Sacramento County Sheriff’s Office said.
The garage was dark in the footage, but the video showed a figure lifting an arm again and again in a stabbing motion as a woman screamed.
The deputy ran in with his gun drawn, repeatedly yelling “Stop!” before firing three times.
Dispatch audio released by the sheriff’s office captured the deputy saying moments later that two women and a man were down but still breathing.
More deputies reached the garage within minutes and began giving aid.
The mother, covered in blood, came out as authorities guided her toward waiting ambulances, while two officers carried her daughter outside, put her on the ground and started life-saving measures.
Fire personnel pronounced Allahdin dead at the scene, and the sheriff’s office said no deputies were injured.
The Sheriff’s Homicide Bureau and Professional Standards Division are investigating the officer-involved shooting, which the department said is standard practice for shootings involving officers in its jurisdiction.
