A pregnant woman went to a Houston home after meeting a teenager at church, then left with knife wounds to her face, arms and hands in an alleged attack tied to the teen’s ex-boyfriend.
Carrieale Williams, 19, is charged with aggravated assault in the Dona Lane case, which unfolded last week and involved a victim whose name has not been released.
Court documents gave the alleged confrontation a jealous-romance backdrop: the injured woman was dating Williams’ former boyfriend.
The pregnancy angle cut both ways in court. During Williams’ appearance, a judge indicated the accused teen was also believed to be pregnant when the latest alleged attack occurred.
The woman had gone to Williams’ home after the two met at church, according to the allegations. Inside the home, the victim spotted a knife that Williams had allegedly kept from view.
The situation turned violent when Williams brought out the weapon and the victim reached for it. Williams then allegedly used the knife on the woman’s face, arms and hands.
Deputies responded to the home before the victim was taken for treatment. Police described the injuries as non-life-threatening and said the pregnant woman was expected to be OK.

The aggravated assault paperwork centers on the knife as a deadly weapon and lists the alleged bodily injury as intentional, knowing or reckless.
Damiun Becnel told KTRK-TV the allegations clashed with the quiet neighborhood he was used to seeing.
“That is extremely violent. I didn’t know any of that was happening,” Becnel said. “My neighbors are usually chill, so hearing that, hearing that story came from my neighbors is kind of crazy.”
The court hearing also surfaced a separate allegation from Williams’ own family.
A year before the Dona Lane case, Williams was accused of attacking her sister during an argument about a phone charger. Her sister was six months pregnant, and Williams allegedly knocked her down and hit her in the stomach.
KTRK-TV said the older case was dismissed after Williams finished a 10-hour anger management course and her sister asked for the charges to be thrown out.
Another recent stabbing case put a 19-year-old tourist from Australia in the hospital after a late-night stop at a McDonald’s near Penn Station.
The tourist was eating inside the Eighth Avenue restaurant at about 2 a.m. Monday when he was attacked, according to the New York Post.
The attacker stabbed him in the rib cage and back after what people familiar with the case described to the Post as only a brief exchange of words. Those people said the suspect did not appear to have a clear provocation.
The wounds hit the teenager’s lower right torso and lower right back, and his lung was punctured, the DA’s office said.
ABC7 later reached the victim by phone and heard directly from him that he was recovering.
Juan Mercedes, 25, was arrested near the McDonald’s after police found him with a knife, prosecutors said.
The case against Mercedes started with second-degree assault, then moved to attempted murder. At a Manhattan Criminal Court hearing, bail was set at $150,000.
The victim was listed in stable condition at Bellevue Hospital and is expected to survive.
The DA’s office said Mercedes did not provide police with a current address or contact details and had no clear connection to New York City.
A Florida license was found on Mercedes when he was arrested, and prosecutors said his criminal record is also out of Florida.
In South Carolina, a rideshare pickup became an alleged 11-stab-wound carjacking, leaving a Lyft driver’s wife to tell a court months later that he was still too shaken to appear himself.
Naziyha La’Nay Weatherall, 22, called for a Lyft from her Greenville County apartment complex on April 22, police said.
When the driver got there, Weatherall allegedly stabbed him 11 times in the head, took control of his vehicle and left the scene.
Police later located the driver near Haywood Road and East North Street with serious injuries, and he was taken to a hospital.
Law&Crime reviewed Greenville County jail records that list Weatherall’s charges as carjacking resulting in bodily injury and possession of a weapon during a violent crime.
At Weatherall’s bond hearing, the driver’s wife addressed the court in his place. His family said the attack left him unable to attend because of the emotional and mental toll.
The family also said the driver spent time in intensive care after suffering 11 stab wounds and was still dealing with damage that went beyond the physical injuries.
“The alleged conduct was extremely violent,” his wife said, adding that he was “attacked vehemently with a knife, resulting in 11 stab wounds to multiple areas of his body.”
Weatherall’s lawyers focused heavily on her mental condition at the time of the alleged attack. WHNS reported that she had schizophrenia, was in an unstable state and was experiencing intense, repeated hallucinations.
The defense tied the Lyft ride to Weatherall’s plan to reach a nearby police station and report what she believed was happening.
“Her mother even called the police station to let them know she was on the way to make a report,” a defense attorney said. “During that the crisis got worse. She was undergoing a delusion in which she believed she was being trafficked and panicked.”
Her defense team said medication has since left Weatherall stable and competent, while still contending that “the things she said need to be looked at” in connection with the case.
Weatherall’s family and social worker sought a bond ruling that would allow them to arrange treatment placement.
The judge kept Weatherall jailed, with a psychological evaluation set for next month.
