A violent encounter on a Manhattan street left a 15-year-old girl injured after a 14-year-old boy allegedly grabbed her, slammed her onto the pavement and stomped on her head in broad daylight, an attack captured on video and later shared widely.

The confrontation unfolded Monday afternoon in East Harlem shortly after school dismissal, with footage showing the masked teen stepping into the girl’s path as she tried to cross the street.

According to the video, the boy blocked her movement and threatened to “knock the s— outta” her, escalating the situation as bystanders looked on.

“Get the f— away from me,” the girl responded, attempting to move around him as he continued to stand in her way.

Someone off-camera can be heard urging the confrontation forward, adding to the tension as the exchange grew more heated.

When the girl tried to walk around a parked car to avoid him, the encounter turned physical.

The footage shows the boy grabbing her from behind, lifting her off the ground and forcefully throwing her onto the sidewalk.

As she lay on the pavement, the boy stomped on her head before walking away, leaving her injured in the street.

Police said officers responded to a 911 call reporting an assault in progress and were told a teenage girl had been attacked by an unidentified individual.

“The individual threw the victim to the ground and kicked her in the head, causing minor injuries. EMS responded and transported the victim to NYC Health+Hospitals/Harlem in stable condition,” the New York Police Department said.

Authorities later identified the suspect as a 14-year-old boy, who was taken into custody Wednesday and charged with assault.

Details surrounding what led up to the confrontation have been disputed by those involved.

Reports cited by the New York Post indicate the incident may have started after the girl refused to give the boy her phone number.

The victim’s mother, Lucinda Arroyo, said the escalation shocked her daughter, who she said was trying to avoid the situation.

“This is not even bullying. This is outright assault, and he could have killed her,” Arroyo said. “She was very angry at why he escalated so quickly from one thing to another.”

Arroyo described the injuries her daughter sustained as more serious than initial reports suggested.

She said the attack left the girl with a concussion, bleeding, a possible brain injury, severe headaches and a twisted neck that will require ongoing physical therapy.

The video’s circulation online has become another point of frustration for the family.

“The video was passed around like entertainment, and that p—– me off the most,” Arroyo said, describing how others appeared to treat the footage casually.

“She’s ignoring him, so he basically forced her to pay attention to him. And his friends are laughing after that. It’s not just one bully, but community bullying,” she added.

The family has also raised concerns about safety at the school the teens attended.

“She’s not going back to that school. … That school can’t keep her safe,” Arroyo said.

The suspect’s mother offered a different account, claiming her son had been the one targeted prior to the incident.

“She was being a bully to him, that’s it,” Selma Allen said, describing her son as a “humble” Christian who had complained about being mistreated.

Allen said she had raised concerns with school officials, but felt the situation was not addressed.

She also disputed claims that her son was trying to obtain the girl’s phone number, saying the two had previously communicated on social media.

“It’s retaliation because she pushed him first,” Allen said, though she did not provide video evidence she claimed existed of the girl shoving her son.

As the investigation into the assault continues, the incident has drawn attention to how quickly confrontations between teens can escalate into serious violence, particularly when recorded and shared.

The attack in Manhattan comes as another violent encounter involving teenagers in New York turned deadly days earlier, underscoring the stakes when conflicts spill into public spaces.

At a playground in Queens, a 15-year-old boy identified as Jaden Pierre was beaten and then fatally shot during a gathering that had been organized online.

Video from the scene reportedly shows multiple individuals surrounding Pierre, striking him as he tried to shield himself.

At least three attackers can be seen repeatedly punching and kicking him before he was knocked to the ground.

After Pierre got back up, one of the individuals pulled out a gun, struck him with it and then fired, according to reports describing the footage.

Pierre collapsed after being shot in the chest as people in the crowd scattered.

Police later identified 18-year-old Zahir Davis as a suspect in the killing, describing him as affiliated with the BG4 gang, also known as Blitz Gang 4, which operates in southeast Queens.

Investigators believe the violence was tied to an ongoing conflict between Pierre and others involved in the attack.

NYPD Chief of Detectives Joseph Kenny said the confrontation stemmed from a dispute that had been building for months.

“They have an ongoing beef [dating back] to January,” Kenny said, describing earlier incidents in which Pierre had been assaulted and retaliatory violence followed.

According to investigators, tensions escalated again when individuals connected to that earlier conflict encountered Pierre at the playground event.

Authorities said the gathering itself had drawn multiple groups, including individuals affiliated with several different gangs, creating a volatile environment.

Pierre, however, did not appear to be connected to any gang and had attended the event with friends, police said.

Kenny said the sequence of events leading to the shooting is still being reviewed, including whether the gun discharged intentionally or during the struggle.

“When you watch the video, he strikes him in the head with a gun, and as he comes down, the shot rings out,” Kenny said.

Officials have asked anyone with video from the scene to come forward as investigators continue to piece together what happened in the moments leading up to the shooting.

New York Attorney General Letitia James also addressed the case, urging the suspect to surrender as authorities work to bring charges.

Police believe Davis may have fled the country following the shooting, though that has not been publicly confirmed.

The investigation remains ongoing as detectives continue tracking leads tied to the attack.
