A man who became romantically entangled with a woman accused of plotting to kill her estranged husband is now in legal trouble of his own.

Woman who plotted to kill estranged husband accused ex-boyfriend of trying to kill her

Former Alabama beauty queen, Lindsay Shiver, has accused her ex-boyfriend, 35-year-old Dorsey Ryan Love of domestic violence on July 25.

According to the Dothan Police Department, Shiver claimed he threw her onto a bed and tried to both strangle her and smother her with a pillow.

She also told police that he had abused her while they were on a trip in Florida, and said that “he threatened to kill me” in her written request for a restraining order.

The allegations against Love are similar to those she filed against her estranged husband, Robert Shiver, who she allegedly tried to have killed.

Robert, a former Auburn football player, filed for divorce from Lindsay on April 5, 2023 after discovering “adulterous conduct” by his wife of 13 years.

In the filing, he sought full-custody of the couple’s three children, to restrict her from the marital home, and requested for the judge to waive alimony payments.

The next day, she accused him of domestic violence, which included “physical and mental cruel treatment.” She also requested a restraining order.

“Wife feels unsafe in the marital home and has installed locks on the interior doors of the home for protection,” her filing stated.

“Husband has abused the Wife in the home in the children’s presence on multiple occasions, not only physically but also mentally and emotionally.”

Lindsay also requested full-custody of their children, sole ownership of their home, alimony payments, and 50% of all their assets.

Woman plots to murder estranged husband

The divorce proceedings must have not been going her way, because Lindsay was accused of plotting to murder Robert Shiver, on July 16, 2023, while he was on vacation in the Bahamas.

The alleged murder plot was uncovered by happenstance, when Bahamian police were investigating a robbery at a bar where Terrance Bethel, Lindsay’s alleged affair partner, was working a the time.

When police were going through Bethel’s phone records, they discovered messages that pointed towards a hit on Robert.
Shiver reportedly sent Newbold a message over WhatsApp with photos of her husband, instructing, “Kill him.”

He allegedly roped his friend Faron Newbold Jr. into the plot, when he started messaging him.

“This [guy] rolled up on Lindsay and wouldn’t let her on the plane and he put his hands on her. I am about to come out of retirement for this [guy],” Bethel messaged Newbold Jr.

“He is flying into Baker’s Bay, she is thinking about letting me kill him but he has the kids,” he also wrote.

Lindsay was arrested in Abaco, Bahamas in July, along with Bethel and Newbold Jr.

She reportedly told the police that she wasn’t actually plotting to kill her estranged husband, and what she wrote was “said out of anger and frustration” after an argument.

Robert, who survived the attempt on his life, told police that he had found out Lindsay was cheating on him a year prior with an 18-year-old.

The couple tried to reconcile, but he caught her having an affair with Bethel and called off their marriage for good.

Murderous wife goes free on bail and returns to the U.S.

Lindsay was eventually granted $100,000 bail and allowed to go back to the United States. She now lives with her parents in Florida and is required to wear an ankle monitor.

Bethel and Newbold Jr. went free on $20,000 bail on the condition they both wear ankle monitors and check in at a police station three times weekly.

Her attorney, Owen Wells, declared that his client is innocent.

“She continues to face the legal process with complete transparency and honesty,” he remarked in December.

“Lindsay is looking forward to getting this ordeal behind her and — most importantly — she is looking forward to being reunited with her young children who have been without their mother for many months.”

In January, she filed a motion that Robert Shiver has prevented her from visiting their three children and has kept them hidden from her, though she is not permitted to enter Georgia, where they live.

“The Plaintiff (Robert Shiver) has denied the Defendant (Lindsay Shiver) any in-person contact with the children during the holiday season,” her attorney wrote in the motion.

Her lawyers said that she was only allowed to see the children over a video call on Christmas day.

“It is believed that the children have been left in the care of babysitters for extended periods during the holidays when they could have been in Alabama with their mother and extended family members who love them,” her attorney remarked.

“The children know the Defendant (Lindsay Shiver) is at their grandparents’ home in Alabama, and the youngest is especially distraught.”

She also complained that her estranged husband sold her 2021 Cadillac Escalade, removed all of her possessions from the martial home, and cut off her financial access.

Her trial for his attempted murder-for-hire was slated to begin in March, but has been delayed multiple times to a to-be-determined date.

  1. If I were on a jury, I would tell her, “Say goodbye to your children, ’cause you are going to prison for a long, long time.”
