Authorities in Tennessee have arrested a woman believed to be the hit and run driver that claimed the life of a father riding his bicycle.

Hit and run driver commented on posts about victim

The suspect, identified as 25-year-old Haley Layman of Grundy County, is accused of fleeing the scene and attempting to cover her tracks both online and by repairing her vehicle.

According to a press release from the Grundy County Sheriff’s Office, Layman was taken into custody after investigators determined she had struck and killed Bobby Green.

Layman reportedly confessed during questioning that she had been drinking on the night of the crash.

As detailed in her arrest report obtained by WTVC, she admitted to being under the influence at the time of the collision, which she claimed led her to flee the scene.

Layman also allegedly revealed she took her car to another county to avoid detection and potentially tamper with evidence as social media posts began circulating about Green’s death.

Layman also allegedly posted public condolences on Facebook just one day after Green’s death, drawing outrage from the victim’s family.

Daughter of victim speaks out about hit and run driver

The victim’s daughter, Clara Green, spoke with WTVC and described the severity of her father’s injuries.

“She hit him so hard that it … tore up his right leg and ripped his pinky off on his right hand,” she said.

Clara explained that a nearby resident found her father lying injured on the side of the road after Layman allegedly drove off without calling 911.

“She went and got a flashlight and found him, and she went and got a blanket for him because he said he was cold and sat there and prayed with him,” Clara said of the good Samaritan.

Despite efforts to save him, Bobby Green died while being transported to the hospital.

Investigators recovered physical evidence from the crash site. Clara Green noted that law enforcement found a broken headlight and reported that the vehicle’s windshield wiper had also been ripped off.

Adding insult to injury, Layman reportedly interacted with a Facebook post from Clara Green, who had publicly pleaded for information regarding the hit-and-run.

The post read: “I know I don’t post a lot of personal stuff and I never ask for anything, but please if anyone knows who hit my daddy Bobby Dan Green Green from the back while he was riding his bike down the road going toward Palmer market (pretty sure it was intentional because they came back after they hit him looked at him and left).”

Layman later deleted the posts she made mourning Green’s death, but Clara claimed to have seen them and even replied directly.

“I’ll pray for you,” Clara Green said to Layman. “I don’t hate you. I just wish you would have made a different decision that night to not drink and drive.”

“All I can say is I just wish she would have done the right thing,” she added.

Road rage incident leads to attempted murder charges

Meanwhile, in California, a heated exchange at a red light in Riverside escalated into a violent confrontation that left a motorcyclist injured and a driver facing serious charges.

Authorities allege that 32-year-old Gary Delandro intentionally struck a motorcyclist following a traffic dispute.

According to ABC 7, the ordeal began when Delandro reportedly cut off the motorcyclist.

The biker’s disapproval led to an argument at the light, captured on video.

Delandro can be seen opening his car door and confronting the motorcyclist, asking, “Why’d you shake your head?”

After an initial back-and-forth, both men appeared to part ways when the light turned green.

However, investigators say Delandro then pursued the motorcyclist, maneuvering between two stopped cars to reach him.

Video footage appears to show Delandro hitting the bike and dragging the rider down the street.

“I’m not sure how fast we were going. All I know is, when he finally stopped, he threw [his car] in reverse, so I took that chance,” the injured rider told ABC 7.

He managed to flee to the sidewalk as Delandro allegedly sped away.

Delandro later turned himself in and now faces attempted murder charges. He remains in custody with bail set at $1 million.

State patrol officer killed young motorcyclist

Meanwhile in Washington state, a law enforcement officer is under scrutiny after allegedly causing a fatal crash while intoxicated.

Sarah Clasen, a 35-year-old public information officer with the Washington State Patrol, reportedly struck and killed 20-year-old motorcyclist Jhoser Sanchez after spending hours drinking at a bar.

Authorities say Clasen had been at a low-profile establishment called Moon Palace with her husband before the incident.

Despite the tragedy occurring on March 1, she has not yet been charged and is currently not in custody.

According to police, Clasen’s blood alcohol level was more than twice the legal limit even six hours after the crash.

Body cam footage from the scene reportedly shows her slurring and refusing a sobriety test.

Investigators found that Moon Palace, listed as a Chinese restaurant, operates primarily in cash and encourages patrons to use a side entrance.

The establishment is known locally for its heavy-handed liquor service. Police believe Clasen’s bar tab was intentionally deleted and say staff tried to downplay how much she drank.

After her DUI arrest, Clasen was booked under a 72-hour investigative hold in Benton County Jail.

However, no charges were filed during that period, and Judge Diana Ruff ruled she did not pose a continued threat to the public, leading to her release.
