An old woman from Roxbury, Massachusetts, tragically lost her life in what investigators described as a brutal attack by her own pit bull.
Old woman mauled by beloved dog
Jeriline Brady-McGinnis, 73, was reportedly mauled inside her home on Monday at approximately 4:30 p.m., with her husband and two responding police officers also suffering injuries in the chaotic and violent incident.
Authorities shared that Brady-McGinnis’ husband sustained wounds while trying to rescue her from the dog’s relentless aggression.
Meanwhile, two Boston police officers ended up being attacked upon arriving at the scene.
All four were immediately rushed to a nearby hospital. However, Brady-McGinnis sadly did not survive, passing away during surgery, according to reports.
WFXT-TV identified the dog as a pit bull named Deuce, which was responsible for the deadly attack on the old woman.
Police confirmed that while the husband and officers experienced injuries, none of them were life-threatening.
When the officers were targeted by the dog, another responding officer fired shots at the animal to stop Duece from continuing the attack.
Pitt bull and old woman die
Surveillance footage obtained by the news outlet allegedly captured those moments, with three gunshots audible in the recordings.
Deuce was later transferred to Angell Animal Medical Center for treatment but was ultimately euthanized.
Boston Animal Control explained that the dog’s deteriorating health and poor prognosis left no other option.
Brady-McGinnis was reportedly the owner of four dogs in total, all of whom have since been removed from the residence.
Neighbors expressed trepidation about the dogs. Speaking to WBZ-TV, Jean McGuire, 93, a close friend of the victim, shed light on Brady-McGinnis’ connections with her pets.
“She’s very close to her animals, almost like children, I think,” McGuire remarked, noting that they were well taken care of and walked every day.
“She was simply an extraordinary person,” McGuire said. “Kind, generous, compassionate. The world lost someone special.”
The Boston Police Department’s Homicide Unit is actively investigating this tragic incident.
Pitt bull killed by migrant maniac
Meanwhile, in an entirely unrelated but equally shocking case in New York City, a pit bull met a gruesome end at the hands of someone its owner once trusted.
Luis Gabriel Santamaria revealed that his beloved 2-year-old dog, Kith, was thrown from a 14th-story balcony by a man he considered a friend.
Santamaria, 27, told the New York Post the incident occurred after he attended a Halloween party.
Upon returning to his Crown Heights apartment in Brooklyn early on November 1, he discovered Kith lifeless on the sidewalk below.
The man responsible, identified as 33-year-old Alberto Morris, allegedly committed the act following an earlier altercation between the two.
“I had him since he was a baby, since he was one month old. He was literally my best friend,” Santamaria emotionally stated.
He also shared his disbelief toward Morris’ actions, exclaiming, “I never would have thought he would do what he did, murder my dog for no reason.”
The unraveling of their friendship began weeks prior, with the two bonding over shared Panamanian roots.
However, Morris quickly displayed obsessive tendencies, showing up unannounced at Santamaria’s apartment and sending peculiar messages.
His behavior worsened during the Halloween party, where Morris allegedly became aggressive while under the influence of alcohol.
Morris tried to pick a fight with Santamaria, who was unaware at the time that Morris had taken his apartment keys from his bag without him noticing.
Feeling uneasy, Santamaria rushed home after contacting friends for assistance. However, Morris had already broken into the apartment, targeting the two-year-old pit bull.
Kith was thrown from the 14th story before Morris fled the scene, allegedly attempting to remove a Ring camera in a hasty escape.
Authorities apprehended Morris days later, and he now faces multiple charges, including animal cruelty, grand larceny, and criminal mischief.
Despite the severity of these accusations, Brooklyn prosecutors noted that they are not bail-eligible under current guidelines.
Since Morris, who is a migrant, had no prior arrests, he was released following his arraignment.
