A shocking video caught an Ohio woman unleashing her fury on the Halloween lawn decorations outside a house belonging to grieving parents who recently lost their son.
Unhinged woman destroys Halloween lawn decorations
Christina Horvath, aged 48, found herself in cuffs following a 30-minute outburst on October 7, that happened in the middle of the day.
Horvath is accused of inflicting over $1,000 in damages upon the the Zeller family’s residence in Toledo, but the destroyed decorations crafted with their late son, who perished in a motorcycle crash, were truly invaluable.
Neighbor-captured footage purportedly shows Horvath destroying the Zellers’ spirited arrangement.
She was seen using a metal rod to smash decorative tombstones and take down faux webs, then hurling plastic skeletons into the street.
Horvath violently attacked the small gothic fence encircling the yard, and got inventive by grabbing a plastic coffin to bash other embellishments.
At one point, her unhinged frenzy caused the suspect to stumble over cobwebs, sending her tumbling to the ground.
Concerned neighbors quickly alerted the Zellers about the systematic ruination of their cherished Halloween setup.
“They said that somebody was in our yard and destroying all of our decorations,” Shannon Zeller remarked. “I broke down like a baby.”
“Some of [the decorations] we can’t put a dollar amount on because we made it. We have handcrafted items done with our kids,” she noted. “Sadly, we lost our son in a motorcycle accident. These pieces carry deep memories.”
Family has no idea why woman trashed Halloween lawn decorations
The motive behind the vandalism remains a mystery. The Zellers had no prior encounters with Horvath, who reportedly rampaged for half an hour, causing considerable harm.
The Zellers are baffled by Horvath’s targeting of their property but wish for her to receive necessary medical intervention.
“I don’t know what it was. There were speculations, but I hope she gets the treatments that she needs,” she added.
The family hasn’t let Horvath ruin their spooky holiday, and managed to incorporate some of the wrath she wrought into the display.
Next to a skeleton on a wrecking ball, they’ve hung a sign reading, “She Came in Like a Wreckin’ Ball,” referencing Miley Cyrus’ well-known music video.
“I said, ‘Well, what can I do to just leave it as it is and make it fun and kind of make light of it?'” Shannon stated.
“I hope everyone else can just see we were just making light of a sad situation”
Christina Horvath was arrested and now faces criminal damaging and theft charges, as she was recorded stashing various items in her vehicle.
Just two weeks before the unhinged episode, she landed in Lucas County Jail for allegedly smashing a car windshield with a rock.
Real-life Halloween horror
In a separate incident, a Halloween gathering ended in horror early Saturday when a man in Los Angeles attacked a woman with a knife, then led police on a short car chase.
Ronald Gilliard, also 48, was apprehended on charges of assault with a deadly weapon, evading officers, hit-and-run, and DUI, according to Pasadena Police Lieutenant Keith Gomez.
The confrontation happened around 2 a.m. in North Oakland, when Gilliard became aggressive with a 40-year-old female companion at a party.
Gomez explained that Gilliard wielded a knife and pressed it against the victim before biting her, resulting in minor injuries.
When officers arrived, Gilliard fled in a Honda Civic, hitting two parked cars before leading police on a brief pursuit lasting just over a minute and spanning under a mile.
The chase concluded when Gilliard pulled over, with Gomez noting that he did slightly resist during his arrest.
Gilliard suffered a small cut on his left hand during the event and was taken to a hospital for treatment and a blood alcohol test.
His victim did not need hospital care for her injuries the police detailed.
