A Florida woman bemoaned that she wouldn’t “last in jail” after crashing a BMW into a local Popeyes chicken joint.
Florida woman flees after driving into storefront
In the video, which has since gone viral, the blonde, clad in a short pink dress and white heels, stumbled out of the luxury car and fled the scene with strangers.
Two men who witnessed the crash offered to help her out of the wrecked vehicle and gave her some ill-conceived advice along with their assistance.
“How’d the f*** did that happen?” One asked in bafflement, while holding her purse as she loaded items into it.
The woman was recorded gathering her things from the car, with shattered glass visible on the hood and front of the vehicle, along with the bumper left behind on the tire-marked grass near the building.
“Thank you so much,” she told the man helping her. “I appreciate so much for real. I can’t go to jail.”
“I cannot go to jail,” the Florida woman responded. “I can’t, I can’t. I won’t last there.”
“Leave that car there,” the other urged. “Leave the car, come on.”
She emerged from the BMW remarkably unscathed and clacked toward the man filming in her high heels.
The unknown man told her she can ride with him, and the woman agreed. “Can you get me out of here please? Where do I go?”
“You’re gonna get charged with that. Damn,” he remarked.
“I can’t get charged. I gotta’ go quickly. Let’s go. Let’s go,” she spurred him on.
While she was fleeing the scene, her phone rang and she answered it. “Hello, I just crashed. I gotta go later. Bye,” she told whoever called.
Its unclear if the accident, which happened on Sunday, occurred while the restaurant was open, and if any staff or customers were present at the time of the crash.
Florida woman charged for crash
The woman’ stranger-savior was right, she did get charged for the crash and has been cited for driving too fast for conditions, which appeared to be wet in the video, and careless driving, according to a police statement on Tuesday.
An investigation into the incident has been opened by law enforcement, and the woman, who police have yet to identify, was not accused of being intoxicated.
According to police “there were no serious injuries reported,” and despite what the video depicts “the female driver was still on scene when officers arrived.”
“The officers analyzed the female to identify signs of intoxication, which were not present, including the smell of alcohol or drugs in or around the vehicle,” a police spokesperson told Law&Crime.
However, additional charges could be added when their report is formally filed.
Florida influencer rams into cops
Elsewhere in the Sunshine State, insane police body camera footage caught a quadriplegic YouTube influencer battering officers with his motorized wheelchair while they were taking his mother into custody.
Bryant Amastha, 32, who goes by El Valien-T on the social platform, was arrested in May on charges of battery on a law enforcement officer outside his home in Miami.
Florida police have released the bodycam video, displaying Amastha driving his wheelchair into an officer while accusing the cop of “laughing at” him.
In court, Amastha denied the charges, with the judge remarking they’ve “never seen a case like this.”
The video began after police responded to Amastha’s 911 call on his mother, who he said took a swing at him during a fight between the pair.
He apparently had a change of heart by the time police arrived claimed that she had only “grazed” him.
Amastha tried talking the cops out of arresting her by explaining that his mother cares for him at home, though he mentioned her arrest last September following a mental health crisis.
He revealed she attempted suicide two weeks later, prompting officials to enforce the Baker Act, which allows for the involuntary detention of individuals with mental health issues.
Amastha shared that his mother was diagnosed with depression and bipolar disorder but refused her medications and psychiatrist care.
After telling police what happened during their tiff, Amastha repeatedly urged officers not to arrest her, asking them to “Baker Act her” instead.
A different video, his mother is seen being handcuffed and taken into custody, which set Amastha off.
He demanded to be arrested with his mother, and told the officers, “If she’s going, then I’m going too.”
As police escorted his mother to their patrol car, Amastha sped down the driveway and smashed into one of the cop’s legs, accusing the cop of “laughing at” him.
“I just hit you again, what the f*** are you gonna do about it?” He said on camera.
A claim he denied outside of court when asked if assaulted the police. “I absolutely did not,” he told a reporter, and said that they “manhandled” him.
Amastha is scheduled to return to court in Florida on Wednesday, after being released by a judge who did not believe he posed a flight risk.
