A Georgia youth softball coach was arrested after she attacked an opposing coach during a postgame handshake line.

The fight broke out Saturday as elementary school players lined up to exchange high-fives following the game.

Meredith Haskew Grant suddenly left the line and rushed toward the opposing coach, driving into her and knocking her to the ground.

Both women hit the dirt as players scattered toward the dugout and adults hesitated before reacting.

Music played over the field’s speakers as the two coaches grappled on the ground.

Grant did not stop after the initial hit. She climbed over the other coach and tried to pin her down as they struggled, shifting her weight to maintain control while the other woman tried to push her off.

The two broke apart briefly, creating a moment where it appeared the fight might end. That pause didn’t hold.

Grant went right back at her. She grabbed the woman’s shirt and yanked her forward, then reached up and pulled her down by the hair, dragging her back into the dirt.

They crashed again as Grant forced her way on top and started throwing punches, continuing the attack even as people nearby began shouting.

One adult near the dugout yelled at the players to move. “Get in the dugout!”

Another voice followed from the sideline as the fight continued. “Get those jerks out of here.”

The yelling continued as more adults moved toward the fight, but the struggle carried on for several more seconds before anyone physically stepped in to separate them.

Some parents hovered at a distance while others rushed in, trying to pull the two apart.

Grant told deputies the confrontation followed earlier tension during the game, including claims that players on the opposing team mocked her daughter.

She also said a coach from the other team confronted her during the handshake line and “got in her face.”

Investigators reviewed video from the field and reached a different conclusion.

Officers determined Grant initiated the physical contact and drove the encounter into a fight.

A separate coach who attempted to intervene told deputies he was pushed while trying to break it up, adding to the chaos as multiple adults became entangled in the moment.

The report states Grant grabbed the opposing coach by the hair, pulled her to the ground, and struck her in the face.

The Whitfield County Sheriff’s Office took Grant into custody later that day and charged her with misdemeanor battery. She was released after posting bond.

The fallout extended beyond the arrest. United States Fastpitch Association state director Jeff Britt barred Grant from coaching in future tournaments following the altercation, removing her from participation in sanctioned events.

A separate incident out of Mexico drew similar attention after a funeral turned into a physical fight between two women who discovered they had both been involved with the same man.

Witnesses said one woman stood beside the coffin and spoke through tears as she said goodbye. “Love, I’m going to miss you.”

Another woman confronted her after hearing the remark. “Who are you?”

The situation escalated once the relationship became clear. The two women began shouting before the situation turned physical near the coffin as mourners watched.

Video from the scene shows flowers being knocked aside as the struggle unfolded next to the casket, with the lid shifting during the altercation as the two fought over the deceased man’s coffin.

Bystanders remained nearby as the confrontation played out, some watching in shock as the situation escalated in a setting typically reserved for mourning and reflection.

In Florida, a confrontation outside a Miami gas station turned deadly after an argument between two women escalated into violence.

Latrosha Williams, 42, was shot after a dispute with another woman turned physical outside the store.

A witness said the conflict began when Williams nearly came into contact with a vehicle entering the lot.

The two exchanged words before a bystander attempted to calm things down.

Footage shows the argument continuing outside the store before turning physical.

Williams pulled off the other woman’s pink wig during the confrontation, escalating the tension further.

The suspect returned to her vehicle, retrieved a firearm, and fired, striking Williams.

She collapsed to the ground while the suspect fled in a silver Cadillac, leaving the scene moments after the shooting.

Several people were nearby during the incident, watching as Williams lay on the pavement after being shot. The suspect has not been publicly identified and remains at large.

Williams was taken to a hospital, where she later died from her injuries.

In Arizona, a separate case involved a stabbing on a light rail train near Arizona State University.

Officers responding to reports of a fight found a woman suffering from multiple stab wounds.

Court records state the victim had been seated across from another woman before standing and confronting her. The encounter turned violent moments later inside the train car.

Surveillance footage shows the suspect repeatedly stabbing the victim before leaving the train while holding a knife and a pizza box, walking away after the attack.

The victim suffered at least 14 stab wounds across multiple parts of her body, including her thighs, chest, arm, abdomen, armpit, and jaw. She was taken to a hospital for emergency surgery and later stabilized.

Police identified the suspect as 34-year-old Allante Wallace. She later contacted a defense attorney and turned herself in.

At a court appearance, her attorney argued she acted in self-defense.

“She had no other choice,” the attorney said, adding that other passengers failed to intervene during the attack.

Wallace is being held on a $350,000 bond.
