An Oklahoma teenager called 911 and told dispatchers he had just stabbed his brother, a confession police say came after a violent argument over a video game.

Oklahoma City officers were sent to a residence around 8:30 p.m. last Sunday following a report of a domestic stabbing, according to police.

When officers arrived, they found 25-year-old Nicholas Spencer suffering from severe stab wounds inside the residence. Paramedics rushed him to a hospital, where he was later pronounced dead.

Police identified the suspect as Nicholas Spencer’s younger brother, 19-year-old William Spencer, who was still at the scene when officers arrived.

Investigators said the two brothers had been playing video games when the situation escalated.

Authorities said William Spencer became enraged during the game and allegedly stabbed his brother during the dispute.

“The calling person called in and said they had just stabbed their brother, officers got here and found a male with serious stab wounds,” Oklahoma City Police Master Sgt. Rob Robertson commented.

Police said William Spencer did not flee after the stabbing and remained inside the home while officers secured the scene.

He was taken into custody, interviewed by detectives, and later booked into the Oklahoma County Detention Center.

According to Law & Crime, William Spencer admitted to his role in the killing during questioning.

He was formally charged with first-degree murder and remains in custody on a $10 million bond.

Investigators did not release additional details about the weapon used or what immediately triggered the violence beyond confirming it stemmed from an argument during gameplay.

“Very tragic story,” Oklahoma City Police Master Sgt. Gary Knight said during a briefing.

“Two brothers who were playing video games. One became enraged over the game, got mad at the other and simply stabbed him to death.”

The deadly incident is the latest in a string of violent crimes across the country tied to disputes involving video games and family conflict.

Earlier this month in Pennsylvania, an 11-year-old boy was charged with criminal homicide after authorities say he shot his father in the head while the man slept.

Pennsylvania State Police said officers responded to a home in Duncannon Borough around 3:20 a.m. on January 13 after a report of an unresponsive man.

Inside the bedroom, troopers found 42-year-old Douglas Dietz dead from a gunshot wound to the head.

Court records state Dietz was shot in his bed while asleep next to his wife.

Investigators said the victim’s wife woke to a loud noise and noticed a smell similar to fireworks before discovering blood on the bed.

According to an affidavit, the couple’s 11-year-old son, Clayton Dietz, entered the room and told his mother, “I killed daddy.”

State police said Clayton later admitted to shooting his father and identified him as the intended target.

Court documents indicate the shooting occurred on the boy’s birthday, just hours after the family celebrated and went to bed.

Investigators said Clayton told police he became angry after being told to go to bed and acted after his Nintendo Switch had previously been taken away as punishment.

Authorities said the child located a key to a bedroom gun safe inside his father’s drawer.

According to his statement, Clayton opened the safe, loaded the firearm, walked to his father’s side of the bed, pulled back the hammer, and fired.

When asked what he thought would happen, police said the child told investigators he was angry and did not think about the outcome.

Clayton Dietz was taken into custody and charged with criminal homicide. He was denied bail and is being held at the Perry County Prison.

A similar gaming-related dispute turned deadly last year in Florida, where police say a fight over Fortnite escalated into a fatal shooting.

Kelly Agar Garcia, 43, was charged with second-degree murder in Polk County after allegedly shooting his 26-year-old stepson, Azareel J. Martinez.

Davenport police said the incident began when a 9-year-old became upset after his mother took away his phone and stopped him from playing Fortnite.

Authorities said the child retrieved a loaded Smith & Wesson 9mm handgun from a bedroom nightstand.

Police said the child’s mother and Garcia managed to wrestle the firearm away, but the situation intensified moments later.

Investigators said Martinez entered the room and began arguing with Garcia.

During the confrontation, Garcia allegedly fired multiple shots, striking Martinez in the chest and abdomen and again in the back as he tried to leave.

Martinez was transported to a hospital, where he later died from his injuries.

Garcia was booked into the Polk County Jail on May 22 and charged with second-degree murder with a weapon and failure to safely store a firearm.

“This was completely preventable,” Davenport Police Chief Steve Parker said. “I truly believe that if that child did not know where that gun was, none of this would have happened today, none of it.”
