Florida authorities say a 22-year-old man was taken into custody after allegedly stabbing his father, and threatening to kill four children over a broken necklace.

According to the Volusia County Sheriff’s Office, Trevor Nieves-Gonzalez was arrested on Nov. 2 after deputies were called to a home in Delton, following reports that he was threatening several children.

When deputies arrived, they found Nieves-Gonzalez on the front lawn alongside his injured father, who had been attempting to prevent his son from entering the home, where four children were believed to be in danger.

Deputies said the suspect was holding a large hunting knife and refusing to comply with commands.

Body camera footage released by the sheriff’s office showed the father pleading with deputies not to harm his son.

“Please don’t shoot my son,” he begged, asking the deputy to use a Taser instead.

“I’m not gonna shoot him if he drops the knife,” the deputy responded, maintaining a measured tone as the tense standoff continued.

Authorities said that after several tense minutes of verbal negotiation, Nieves-Gonzalez eventually dropped the weapon.

Deputies moved in to arrest him, but the young man reportedly became combative, shouting profanities, flipping his middle finger at officers, and spitting on one of them.

The situation escalated when deputies deployed a Taser, which caused Nieves-Gonzalez to collapse to the ground, allowing them to restrain him safely.

After Nieves-Gonzalez was secured, his father told deputies that he had been stabbed in the back of the head before their arrival.

Paramedics treated him at the scene for multiple injuries before he was taken for further medical evaluation.

According to the father, the violent outburst began earlier that morning while the two were working in the front yard.

He told deputies that his son had been drinking and became enraged when a necklace he was wearing snapped.

Nieves-Gonzalez allegedly attacked his father, punching him repeatedly before heading inside to grab a knife.

Authorities said the suspect then returned and sliced the back of his father’s head with the blade, causing significant bleeding. Inside the home, he reportedly smashed several household items before pointing the knife toward four children, ages 2 to 11.

“I’ll kill these kids, too,” Nieves-Gonzalez allegedly declared, according to the arrest affidavit.

The quick response from deputies and the father’s intervention likely prevented further harm.

Nieves-Gonzalez was booked into the Volusia County Jail, facing multiple serious charges, including four counts of aggravated assault with intent to commit a felony, four counts of child abuse, one count of aggravated battery, one count of resisting an officer with violence, and one count of battery on a law enforcement officer.

He remains held on a $90,000 bond, with a court hearing scheduled for Dec. 4.

In a separate incident across the state, a tragic confrontation between two teenagers at a Florida high school led to one student’s death and another being charged as an adult.

Authorities in Orange County said that a 16-year-old boy was fatally shot after bumping into a classmate, sparking a brief argument that turned deadly.

Investigators identified the accused shooter as 15-year-old Jacori Redding, who now faces charges of manslaughter with a firearm and possession of a firearm on school property.

The Orange County Sheriff’s Office confirmed that Redding will be prosecuted as an adult.

Officials said the incident occurred on Oct. 9 at Oak Ridge High School in Sky Lake.

According to the sheriff’s report, Redding and 16-year-old Pinien Dalmacy bumped into each other in a school hallway, which quickly escalated into a heated exchange.

“Pinien told Jacori to apologize, and he would not, so the two sophomores agreed to fight after school at the park,” the sheriff’s office said in a statement.

Authorities said Redding allegedly shot Dalmacy after school and ran back to campus.

Orange County Sheriff John Mina told reporters that a school resource officer learned of the shooting over the radio, prompting a lockdown.

Deputies later located Redding inside the school cafeteria, where they found a gun inside his backpack.

Sheriff Mina said investigators are still determining how Redding obtained the weapon.

He also noted that Redding had been facing charges for grand theft auto at the time of the fatal shooting.

The teen’s next court appearance is set for Nov. 12, according to local reports.

Meanwhile, in Arizona, a grand jury has handed down an indictment against a 20-year-old man accused of shooting a woman during an alleged road rage encounter.

Prosecutors said the suspect opened fire after feeling disrespected when the woman cut him off in traffic and did not apologize.

Maricopa County officials announced that Rudy R. Sanchez Jr. faces multiple felony charges, including drive-by shooting, discharging a firearm into a structure, and two counts of aggravated assault.

Authorities allege that Sanchez shot the victim in the leg on Oct. 11 while both were driving near Peoria Avenue and Loop 101.

Investigators said the victim told police she had been behind a BMW driven by Sanchez at a red light.

When the light turned green, Sanchez reportedly failed to accelerate, prompting the woman to honk.

After she passed him, Sanchez allegedly pulled up alongside her car, shouted at her, and then fired through her door, striking her in the leg before speeding away.

Police located Sanchez’s vehicle four days later at an apartment complex in Phoenix.

Officers arrested him without incident after watching him leave the building and enter his car early in the morning.

A 9 mm handgun was found in his possession, and investigators recovered a spent shell casing from inside his BMW.

Medical reports indicated that the victim’s femur was shattered by the bullet and had to be surgically repaired with a metal rod.

Doctors warned she could still lose her leg due to the severity of the injury.

Sanchez remains held in the Maricopa County Jail on a $250,000 cash-only bond. His trial is set to begin on Feb. 26, 2026.
