Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) agents recently took a Mexican national into custody after authorities say he kept the corpse of a woman hidden on his property for months following her drug-related death.
Mexican national hid dead woman’s body
According to a statement from the Department of Homeland Security (DHS), 52-year-old Luis Mendoza-Gonzalez was detained on Saturday after being previously charged with concealing a corpse, abuse of a dead body, and obstruction of justice in connection to the death of Megan Bos.
Bos, who had been reported missing by her family in March, was last seen at Mendoza-Gonzalez’s residence in Antioch, Illinois.
The suspect allegedly admitted to police that she died inside his home in February and that he chose to keep her body there since then.
Mendoza-Gonzalez, who is unlawfully present in the United States, told investigators that Bos consumed an unidentified drug and asked to spend time in his basement on February 19.
He told police that he agreed and went upstairs to address a leak in the house.
When he came back downstairs, she was already dead from what appeared to be an overdose.
Mexican national feared legal repercussions over woman’s death
Out of fear of legal consequences, the suspect reportedly left her remains in the basement for several days.
Eventually, he said, he wrapped the body in a blanket and disposed of it in a garbage can on his property.
Authorities later recovered Bos’ body from the container, which had been stored for approximately two months.
The body was reportedly discovered inside a bleach bin, and some officials initially claimed she had been decapitated.
However, both Bos’ mother and the Lake County State’s Attorney’s Office have denied those claims. An autopsy later revealed that fentanyl was the likely cause of death.
Despite the disturbing nature of the allegations, Lake County Judge Randie Bruno released Mendoza-Gonzalez from custody following his court appearance.
While the charges against him include multiple Class 4 felonies, none were deemed detainable under Illinois’ SAFE-T Act.
Illegal immigrant nabbed for sex trafficking
In another case involving an undocumented migrant, Harris County, Texas authorities arrested 22-year-old Jose Armando Carcamo-Perdomo after discovering a woman being held captive inside his Houston residence.
A neighbor’s surveillance footage reportedly captured the chilling moment Carcamo-Perdomo restrained a woman and dragged her back inside the home as she fought to escape.

“She tried to leave, but this defendant carried her back inside the residence without her consent,” a Harris County judge stated. “He tied her up and then sexually assaulted her.”
According to investigators, the woman had traveled from New York to Texas under the promise of a better-paying job as a masseuse.
Upon her arrival, her passport was taken, and she was locked in a closet without access to food or water.
She remained captive for at least five days before managing to escape.
Witnesses say she attempted to flee the trailer but was quickly apprehended and forcibly dragged back inside by Carcamo-Perdomo.
A neighbor who saw the woman struggling alerted law enforcement immediately.
“As soon as I drove out of the fence at work, I called 911 to report a possible child abduction,” the individual told ABC 7.
When police arrived at the property, they found the victim bound and locked in a small closet.
“There was a small closet with a piece of wood across the door that was screwed into the frame,” said Lieutenant John Klafka of the Harris County Sheriff’s Office.
“They were able to rip that piece of wood off and open the door. It had been tied up,” Klafka added.
“She had some type of object like a sock or something that was used to bound her hands.”
Despite the overwhelming evidence, Carcamo-Perdomo denied knowing the victim.
“He knew there was someone in the house, but he claimed to have never seen her or said it was a woman that lived there but didn’t know her, didn’t see her, has never had any interactions with her,” Klafka told Click 2 Houston.
“He obviously is not the one that drove her from New York,” Klafka noted. “He’s not the person that drove her from the first location in Houston. And we know there’s other people involved.”
DHS records show Carcamo-Perdomo illegally entered the United States in 2020 and was given a notice to appear in court after a traffic violation. However, an immigration judge dismissed the case in 2023.
Venezuelan migrant intentionally lights his house on fire
Meanwhile, a third migrant-related tragedy unfolded in Utah, where authorities say a Venezuelan man intentionally set his own house on fire, killing himself and three family members.
According to police, 34-year-old Yordano Valencia Pina ignited the blaze at the family’s West Jordan home on Friday, trapping his wife Jaimar Bravo Gil, 33, their 14-year-old daughter Yorgina, and 9-year-old son Juliano inside.
Eyewitnesses attempted to intervene as flames engulfed the residence. One man was captured on video scaling a fence in a desperate effort to enter the burning home.
Neighbors reported seeing Yorgina crawling away from the house with her body severely burned. She was airlifted to a hospital, where she later died.
Before passing, she reportedly told investigators that her father was responsible for the fire.
Officials confirmed that accelerants were found inside the home, confirming the fire was a case of arson.
The family had arrived in the U.S. from Venezuela about two years prior, local news reported.
According to relatives, Jaimar had endured years of abuse but remained silent due to her undocumented status and fear of deportation.
“It wasn’t just this weekend… it was many years of mistreatment,” her sister told ABC 4.
Police noted there was one previously reported incident of domestic violence at the residence.
