NFL quarterback Mac Jones made a disturbing discovery just hours before the San Francisco 49ers managed a narrow win over the Los Angeles Rams on their home turf.

NFL quarterback discovers body

According to reports, Jones spotted a body floating in the water outside his hotel in Marina del Rey ahead of kickoff.

The Athletic reported that the San Francisco quarterback noticed the body from his hotel balcony and immediately told his teammates.

Authorities were contacted soon after. As the 49ers prepared to depart for SoFi Stadium, players reportedly witnessed investigators and a coroner’s van arriving at the marina.

The Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department confirmed Friday that the case remains under investigation.

Officials have not yet released further details about the discovery or the identity of the deceased individual.

Despite the unsettling morning, Jones went on to deliver a standout performance, helping San Francisco secure a win Thursday night.

Across the country, former NFL quarterback and current Fox Sports analyst Mark Sanchez has been charged with multiple misdemeanors following a violent altercation in Indianapolis that left him hospitalized with stab wounds.

The 38-year-old, who played nine seasons in the NFL, was reportedly injured during an early-morning confrontation with a truck driver before being arrested in his hospital bed.

The Marion County Prosecutor’s Office confirmed that Sanchez faces charges of battery with injury, public intoxication, and unlawful entry of a vehicle. Authorities said he posted a $300 cash bond before being booked.

According to investigators, the incident began when Sanchez allegedly confronted a 69-year-old grease truck driver who was collecting restaurant waste in an Indianapolis alleyway.

The driver reportedly had difficulty hearing Sanchez after removing his hearing aids.

Police said the former quarterback allegedly slammed the man into a dumpster.

The altercation reportedly intensified when the driver, fearing for his safety, sprayed Sanchez with pepper spray.

Despite being chemically blinded, Sanchez allegedly continued to approach the man, who later told police he thought Sanchez was “trying to kill me.”

Out of fear, the driver pulled a knife and stabbed Sanchez multiple times.

According to police, the driver described feeling he was in a “life-or-death situation” as Sanchez continued to come toward him.

The man said he then saw a “look of shock” on Sanchez’s face before the former athlete fled the scene.

Sanchez later told officers that he only remembered “grabbing for a window” and did not recall who attacked him or where the incident occurred.

Sanchez ran into restaurant for help

Bleeding heavily, he reportedly stumbled into Loughmiller’s Pub & Eatery seeking help.

Scott Bennett, an employee at the restaurant, recalled the incident. “As I was closing, somebody was beating on the window, just a random person,” Bennett said.

“I looked and saw that the person needed help and went outside and the person had blood on him, and he said that he’d been shot.

“Brought him inside and laid him down, and we called 911 and put towels over the injuries that he had,” he stated.

“There was blood, definitely, it wasn’t shooting out or anything like that, but there was definitely blood.”

“Some from the chest and some from the abdomen and crotch region, there was blood on his pants,” he said about Sanchez’s injuries.

“I was trying to talk to him a little bit, tried to get his name, couldn’t really understand what he was saying. I didn’t recognize him at all.”

Officials said Sanchez had several stab wounds to his right torso. The truck driver also suffered a cut to his face and was transported to a separate hospital for treatment.

According to TMZ, the driver told police that the dispute started after Sanchez told him he was prohibited from standing in the loading dock by the hotel manager.

The driver added that Sanchez appeared intoxicated and was slurring his speech.

Assault victim still hospitalized

Graphic photos shared after the altercation reportedly showed the elderly man in a hospital bed with a neck brace and a visible wound on his face.

“His family says he was cut in the fight and it went through his cheek and hit his tongue,” Fox59 reported.

On Sunday, Fox Sports host Charissa Thompson briefly addressed the situation during the network’s NFL Kickoff broadcast but did not discuss the criminal charges filed against Sanchez.

“Friday night in Indianapolis, one of our team members, Mark Sanchez, was involved in an incident that we are still trying to wrap our heads around,” Thompson said.

“At this time, our thoughts and prayers are with Mark, his family, and all of those involved.”

Sanchez had traveled to Indianapolis to cover the Colts-Raiders matchup for Fox Sports.

Following the stabbing and arrest, he was removed from his broadcast assignment.

“This incident should never have happened,” Marion County prosecutor Ryan Mears said in a statement issued Sunday.

“What began as a disagreement between a 38-year-old former professional athlete and a 69-year-old man should not have escalated into violence or left anyone seriously injured. As with any case, we will follow the facts and the law wherever they lead.”

Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Chief Chris Bailey praised his department’s officers for their handling of the situation.

“Proud of our IMPD officers and detectives who stayed focused on our mission and not the noise,” Bailey said.

“Their professionalism represents the best of our department. IMPD will continue to be a steady, reliable presence in our city because our community deserves nothing less.”

Mark Sanchez spent a decade in the NFL, beginning with the New York Jets, who selected him fifth overall in the 2009 draft.

He later played for the Philadelphia Eagles, Dallas Cowboys, Washington, and Chicago Bears before transitioning to broadcasting.
