A woman driver was arrested over the weekend in after she struck a police officer with her vehicle and attempted to drive through a restricted area that had been blocked off for a local street festival.

The incident, which was captured on police bodycam footage in Laurel, Maryland, unfolded Saturday during the city’s Main Street Festival.

According to police, the woman driver, who was later identified as 28-year-old Kai Deberry-Bostick, was parked in her vehicle and became irrationally confrontational when an officer informed her she could not proceed down the closed road.

Bodycam video shows the officer politely informing Deberry-Bostick that she could not drive through the taped-off area due to the ongoing festival. He apologized for the inconvenience and offered to arrange a taxi for her.

“There has to be another way,” Deberry-Bostick told the officer. “I’m not taking a taxi all the way to Virginia. I work in Virginia … I need to get out.”

The officer responded, “I can’t have you do that,” as Deberry-Bostick got out of her car.

“I gotta go to work! What do you want me to do?” she exclaimed.

The officer repeated that she could not drive down the restricted street and asked her not to interfere with the area.

Deberry-Bostick replied, “I might have to,” before ripping through the yellow police tape set up in front of her car.

Moments later, she climbed back into her vehicle and drove directly into the officer, who placed his hands on the car’s hood.

He shouted at her to stop as she continued driving forward and nearly took a child on a scooter.

Her attempt to bypass the blockade was short-lived. As she proceeded down the closed street, two officers rushed to the vehicle and struck the hood in an effort to halt her. She was quickly brought to a stop and taken into custody.

Deberry-Bostick was arrested at the scene and faces a list of charges, including assault, resisting arrest, and reckless endangerment.

Police confirmed that no bystanders were harmed, although one officer sustained minor injuries after being hit by the vehicle.

Naked man in cuffs after biting police officers and his dog

In a separate and equally bizarre case, police in Lawrence, Kansas, took a man into custody following a disturbing and downright chaotic situation at a local convenience store.

Lawrence Kansas Police Department (LKPD) officers were dispatched to Casey’s General Store at around 3:00 p.m. after receiving reports of a man occupying the store’s restroom with a dog and refusing to leave.

Upon entering the restroom, police found the man completely naked and apparently engaging in a sexual act.

Officers attempted to place him under arrest after he ignored commands to stop. The man allegedly responded with an unhinged amount of violence that was even directed at his own dog.

“Eventually, officers were able to get the man in handcuffs, but he continued to resist being restrained, and while still in the cramped bathroom, the man bit onto his dog’s ear and neck, refusing to let go,” police said in a statement shared on Facebook.

Officers deployed a taser twice during the encounter, but the suspect reportedly continued to resist and even bit one of the officers.

Additional units were called to the scene. With backup assistance, law enforcement officers were able to subdue the suspect and transport him to a local hospital for evaluation.

The man’s identity has not yet been released. Once cleared by hospital staff, police plan to book him on a series of charges and transfer him to the Douglas County Correctional Facility.

“Multiple officers suffered minor injuries during the scuffle, including an officer who was treated at the hospital for a puncturing bite wound from the suspect,” the LKPD noted.

The dog, which received minor injuries during the struggle, was taken to the Lawrence Humane Society for medical care and assessment.
