An Ohio woman was arrested after allegedly launching a brutal assault on an 11-year-old girl at a neighborhood playground.

Woman arrested for attacking child

According to police records and statements, the incident occurred at a park in Canton and was captured on a cellphone camera, reportedly by the victim’s family.

Authorities say that during the incident, the suspect, identified as Destany Scott, 20, physically attacked the young girl in a disturbing episode of unhinged violence against a minor.

At one point, she is accused of slamming the child’s head multiple times against the metal base of a playground slide.

The mother, still visibly shaken days later, spoke out about what happened and her frustrations with the charges brought forward.

“There should definitely be a lot more done about this than a misdemeanor or assault and disorderly conduct,” Dishong told WOIO in an interview.

Dishong also raised concerns about the size difference between the alleged attacker and her daughter, stating, “It’s ridiculous. Destany is 270 pounds … My daughter is 110 pounds. She could have killed her.”

Police officers arrived at the park on Friday following reports of an assault. The young girl described the moment she was attacked, telling WOIO, “The girl ran up behind me and she, like, grabbed me by my hair and threw me up against the ground.”

Scott was reportedly still at the location when police arrived and was found arguing with Dishong, who she told she hopes her daughter dies.

Officers at the scene believe the violence may have stemmed from a disagreement between Scott and the young girl, though the cause of the dispute remains unclear.

Scott now faces multiple charges: assault, disorderly conduct, and obstructing official business. At her arraignment on Tuesday, she entered a plea of not guilty. Pretrial proceedings are scheduled for the following week.

Florida man arrested for attacking child

Meanwhile, in Hillsborough County, Florida, another child became the target of adult aggression in a case that has prompted widespread condemnation.

A 43-year-old man was taken into custody after being seen on video tackling and restraining an 11-year-old girl whom he suspected of being involved in vandalizing his residence with eggs.

The man, identified as Marius Mutu, reportedly pursued the child and forced her to the ground, pinning her while she screamed in fear. The girl’s cries for help were audible in footage captured by neighbors from their balconies.

“Please, I wasn’t doing anything. I swear on my life. Help me,” she can be heard crying out.

The footage shows Mutu attempting to secure the girl’s arms as she struggled to escape. Residents in the area quickly alerted law enforcement after hearing the commotion.

When Hillsborough County deputies arrived around noon on Saturday, a bystander had already stepped in to separate Mutu from the girl.

Authorities stated that Mutu claimed he thought the girl was responsible for a recent string of eggings and had attempted to take a photograph of her to share with the apartment complex’s management.

Sheriff Chad Chronister described the incident in blunt terms. “This child endured a terrifying and traumatic experience at the hands of someone who chose to take matters into his own hands,” he said.

“We remain committed to protecting our children and ensuring those who harm them are held fully accountable.”

Mutu is facing charges of battery and false imprisonment.

Man makes social media threat against 9-year-old girl

Another incident involving a child unfolded in Riverview, Florida, where a white man allegedly threatened to shoot a nine-year-old Black girl who had come to his doorstep selling candy.

The man, identified as Tyler Chambers, drew outrage after posting a photo of the girl, named Sincere, to a neighborhood Facebook group along with a chilling caption.

“[You’re] lucky we weren’t home to shoot your a** dumb b****,” he wrote.

Though the post was later deleted, it had already spread across social media, igniting a firestorm of criticism.

Chambers later attempted to clarify his intent, suggesting that he believed the girl was part of an attempted burglary plot.

“I saw that on my camera and have a wife and 7-month-old at home, which I will protect as you would,” he wrote. “I was hot when I posted it which is why I deleted it right away I could have handled it a lot different.”

Chambers also said he wanted to find the girl’s parents to speak with them directly and acknowledged he had acted poorly.

“But yes I could have handled it a lot different and wanted to apologize but I was trying to protect the family and it was the wrong way,” he stated.

The girl’s mother, Beyond Shabazz, reacted strongly after learning about the threatening message. Initially, she armed herself and went to confront Chambers, but ultimately decided to involve law enforcement instead.

Upon officers’ arrival, Shabazz informed them of the firearm in her possession and admitted her initial response may not have been the best course of action. She has since filed a police report and is collaborating with authorities.

In addition, Shabazz launched a Change.org petition to demand accountability for the threat made against her daughter.

“Our lives were irrevocably altered when Tyler Chambers brazenly threatened my 9-year-old daughter online, stating in no uncertain terms that he wished harm upon her for simply knocking on his door,” she wrote.
