The revenge plot of a scorned Florida teenager backfired spectacularly when she mistakenly vandalized her ex-boyfriend’s neighbor’s car rather than his.
Florida teenager targets wrong victim
Evelina Fabianski, an 18-year-old from Deltona, was taken into custody on Tuesday after being accused of defacing a car with spray paint.
Police arrived at the scene following reports of vandalism, where they discovered Fabianski with a 16-year-old accomplice, who had spray paint stains on her sweatpants.
Fabianski admitted that she had targeted the vehicle and egged it to retaliate against her ex-boyfriend, claiming he owed her $700.
The investigation uncovered even more trouble for the teens. Officers found open containers of Four Loko in their car, in addition to over 20 grams of marijuana in the 16-year-old’s possession.
Police also located an empty Crown Royal bottle, scale used for weighing drugs, and the yellow spray paint used in the vandalism in Fabianski’s car.
Fabianski confessed to consuming half a can of Four Loko earlier that day and taking Xanax.
During the investigation, body camera footage captured the other teen walking near the damaged car, denying any involvement in the incident.
Despite her claims, an officer humorously noted, “This one’s not involved, but she has yellow spray paint from head to toe.”
When Fabianski revealed her age to the police, one officer quipped, “That’s not too smart to be chugging down some Four Lokos while you’re driving a car.”
Florida teenager caused $5k in damages
Officers instructed the teens to sit on the curb while they gathered witness statements.
Krystle Velez, a neighbor, informed police that she woke up to see the teens defacing the car.
Fabianski brazenly approached her after the act, demanding to know where her son was, stating she needed to speak with him.
The vandalized Infiniti, belonging to a neighbor, Jonathon Edwards, has a repair estimate of $5,000.
Reflecting on the damage, Edwards noted, “It’s crazy too. They chose the perfect color, the perfect color to pop off of black.”
He added, “You’re 18. There’s no point to ruin your life this early over a guy. Makes no sense.”
Edwards said he managed to scrape some paint off the windows with a razor blade but has decided to wait for court proceedings before attempting additional repairs, avoiding the use of graffiti remover in the meantime.
Both teens were subsequently charged with criminal mischief for damages exceeding $1,000.
Fabianski also faced charges for driving under the influence and underage drinking, leading to her booking at the Volusia County Branch Jail.
Meanwhile, the 16-year-old was charged with possessing more than 20 grams of marijuana.
Ex-girlfriend allegedly shoots new love interest
Elsewhere in Florida, authorities dealt with a far more severe altercation involving an ex-girlfriend targeting her former partner.
A Jacksonville woman, 38-year-old Latorray Collins, allegedly shot her ex-boyfriend’s new partner during a dispute.
Deputies found the female victim suffering from a head wound caused by a gunshot.
At the scene, a single .380 caliber shell casing was recovered. Nearby, Collins was discovered with a handgun tucked into her waistband, according to an affidavit filed by the Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office.
The unfolding events reportedly began after Collins’ ex-boyfriend recently ended their relationship.
On Saturday, Collins contacted her ex, requesting to return his belongings. After he declined, asking her to throw the items away, tensions escalated when Collins began persistently calling him while he was out with his new flame.
The series of confrontations continued when Collins allegedly blocked her ex’s car at a traffic light and began aggressively knocking on his window while making demands.
A verbal altercation between Collins and the victim ensued, prompting the ex-boyfriend to intervene.
At that moment, Collins is alleged to have fired a single shot at her ex’s companion.
The woman was rushed to the hospital, but her medical condition is still questionable.
“She wasn’t supposed to make it past Saturday, but she’s still holding on for us,” her current husband told Action News Jax.
Under investigative questioning post-Miranda, Collins claimed her initial intentions were to demand marijuana from her ex-boyfriend.
Facing charges of second-degree attempted murder, Collins is being held in Duval County Jail on $250,000 bail and is due to appear in court on March 11.
