A Louisiana teacher accused of sending inappropriate messages to two teens has been declared innocent after the Sheriff’s Office revealed he was framed in an elaborate scheme, local law enforcement announced on Monday.

Teacher accused of misconduct

The Lafourche Parish Sheriff’s Office began investigating an unnamed male educator from Central Lafourche High School in December.

Accusations surfaced that the teacher had been sending explicit messages to a 16-year-old female student, prompting community concern.

Detectives quickly uncovered what appeared to be inappropriate exchanges on an instant messaging app, allegedly pointing to the teacher’s involvement.

The girl and her 15-year-old friend also openly discussed these exchanges online, reinforcing the claims against the teacher.

Initial findings seemed to validate the allegations, with messages suggesting misconduct from the educator, according to a report from WBRZ.

However, the investigation deepened over the next two weeks and the accusations against the teacher proved to be fake.

Teacher accused of sending messages found innocent

Detectives interrogated all parties involved and obtained warrants to access the teenagers’ phones as well as the messaging app accounts.

It wasn’t long before investigators discovered that the evidence was fabricated by the teacher’s accusers.

The teenagers had created a fake profile impersonating the teacher and generated the messages themselves to stage the fraudulent conversations.

The girls then shared doctored screenshots with friends to build their case against him, the sheriff’s office confirmed.

Detectives have since established that the educator had no involvement in sending any of the messages.

Instead, the investigation revealed that he was a victim of a calculated hoax designed to damage his reputation.

One of the teenagers reportedly confessed to her role in orchestrating the scheme, authorities stated.

Both minors, whose names remain undisclosed due to their age, now face serious charges. The two were arrested and charged on Monday with making false reports aimed at jeopardizing public safety, alongside cyberstalking and online impersonation offenses.

The teenagers have been released into the custody of their parents and are being monitored electronically.

“Our juvenile detectives are diligent and take claims of inappropriate behavior very seriously. They are, however, equally serious about false claims,” Sheriff Craig Webre stated.

“Someone’s life can be instantly ruined by a false allegation, and I am proud that our investigators were able to get to the bottom of this.”

He further highlighted the role of technology in both facilitating the crime and aiding the investigation, stating, “Technology has made it very easy for people to try to manipulate the truth, but technology also makes it easy for investigators to ultimately find the truth.”

Lafourche Parish School District Superintendent Jarod Martin expressed his dismay over the situation, saying he and other officials were “shocked and appalled” by the actions of the students.

The superintendent added, “The allegations against one of our teachers were false and malicious, and we appreciate the efficiency of investigators in uncovering the source of these messages.”

“Such attacks on a teacher’s credibility and reputation are concerning and can inhibit their ability to effectively educate children,” he noted.

Martin reassured the community that the school district remains “committed to investigating all allegations of misconduct in order to provide a safe environment conducive to learning and working for all of our students and staff.”
