Canadian police have apprehended a suspected female serial killer, who is believed to be responsible for a horrifying three-day killing spree in separate cities across Ontario.
Sabrina Kauldhar, 30, has been charged with multiple murders, including the fatal stabbings of two men, in what investigators describe as random acts of violence.
The murder spree began on October 1, 2023, when police discovered the body of a woman in her sixties in her Toronto home.
Officers responded to a call around 2 p.m. and found the woman with severe trauma to her body.
Although the identity of the victim has not yet been made public, authorities confirmed that Kauldhar knew the woman. However, police have not revealed the specific nature of their relationship or the exact cause of death.
Just a day later, on October 2, another murder shocked the nearby community of Niagara Falls.
Around 3 p.m., emergency responders were called to John Allan Park, where 47-year-old Lance Cunningham was found critically injured from stab wounds.
Despite paramedics’ best efforts, Cunningham was pronounced dead at the scene. Police believe this killing was random and that Cunningham had no prior connection to Kauldhar.
The violence continued on October 3, when Kauldhar allegedly made her way to Hamilton, Ontario.
There, 77-year-old grandfather Mario Bilich was stabbed in a parking lot and died hours later in the hospital due to his injuries. Like Cunningham, Bilich is believed to have been randomly targeted.
During their investigation, police discovered surveillance footage from the scene in Hamilton, which reportedly showed Kauldhar calmly walking away after the attack.
The footage, along with witness descriptions, played a critical role in linking her to the murders.
Kauldhar was arrested shortly after the Hamilton stabbing in Burlington, Ontario. Initially taken into custody on suspicion of the first murder, investigators soon connected her to the other two killings based on the description of the suspect seen at each crime scene.
Niagara Regional Police Chief Bill Fordy confirmed that the suspect had been charged with three counts of murder at a press conference.
He described Kauldhar as a “serial killer,” explaining that her alleged actions fit the definition due to the multiple killings over a short period.
“We have in excess of 100 investigators trying to understand why something like this takes place, and to gather as much evidence as possible to bring the accused to court,” Fordy stated.
He said that the investigation was still in the “early stages,” and that detectives have not established a motive for the murders.
“I think with the passage of time, we’ll have greater clarity,” Fordy told reporters.
He also acknowledged that Kauldhar had previously come into contact with law enforcement but declined to provide details about her past interactions with the police.
As the investigation progressed, police revealed that Kauldhar was seen on CCTV footage in a Giant Tiger store in Burlington, where she was reportedly buying clothes. The same clothing was later found in her possession upon her arrest.
Authorities are now attempting to identify a woman who was seen with Kauldhar on the surveillance footage. It remains unclear whether this woman is a victim, accomplice, or simply an unrelated bystander.
Following the arrest, a former high school friend of Kauldhar spoke to the Toronto Sun, shedding light on the suspect’s life before the alleged murders.
The friend, who remained anonymous, described Kauldhar as a bright, promising student who had excelled academically and athletically.
The friend said she knew Kauldhar “well” in high school, describing her as an academically gifted athlete who was born to dentist parents.
However, the friend noted that Kauldhar’s life appeared to take a turn for the worse in her later years.
He speculated that her downfall might have begun during college, where she reportedly fell in with a bad crowd and began experiencing mental health issues.
The last contact he had with Kauldhar was in 2015, when she reached out to ask him for money.
