An inept home intruder who broke into a California residence armed wooden stake and a rock, met the business end of the homeowner’s firearm.
Home intruder breaks into the wrong house
The unnamed burglar attempted to break into an Oceanside home through a sliding glass door last Monday evening.
The 22-year-old home intruder, who was equipped with a three-foot wooden stake and a rock more suited for vampire hunting than robbery, was found by the homeowner and hurled the rock at him.
“The suspect threw a rock at a male resident of the home, striking him in the face,” Oceanside police spokesperson Heather Mitchell told the press.
After taking a rock to the face, the homeowner got a firearm and shot the home intruder in the chest three times.
Police officers gave first aid to the bungling burglar when they arrived at the home, but determined he was dead on the scene.
“The suspect may have attempted to enter at least one other home by throwing a rock through a sliding glass window of that residence, causing the glass to shatter,” Mitchell mentioned to KUSI.
“It was not determined if the suspect did enter the residence and those residents were not home at the time,” she added.
Oceanside police have not pressed charges in the case and have withheld the names of those involved.
Home intruder in the ICU after meeting ferocious father
Elsewhere in Northern California father of two beat down a violent home intruder who he found attacking his children.
Bobby Tucker, a security guard, said he discovered the home intruder at his Citrus Heights residence around 5:30 p.m. on Thursday, while the suspect was screaming as he assaulted the man’s children.
“He attacked my 14-year-old son from the back. He jumped on him choking him out to the ground. And then he moved on to my 11-year-old,” Tucker recounted.
“My mind was completely clear. I wasn’t thinking of anything, just getting that guy off my son. I admit I blanked out for a while, probably scared my kids too. Hitting the guy, hitting the guy and I could hear them saying someone call 911,” he continued.
Citrus Heights police arrested the 29-year-old man and charged him with felony burglary and assault.
“He was out cold, unresponsive. Paramedics tried to get him to wake up or respond. He was just out,” Tucker added. “He chose the wrong house to mess with.”
He said the man was able get in because the children had just taken out the garbage and left the door unlocked. .
“Definitely get you something inside your home to protect yourself whether it’s mace or a firearm, anything to make sure you have something to protect yourself,” Tucker advised homeowners.
“Always keep your doors locked, alarm system, definitely something with a camera on the outside.”
The home intruder was taken to the hospital for treatment and had to be admitted to the ICU. Police noted that Tucker would not be charged for protecting his children.
Homeowner arrested for killing alleged burglar
A Texas homeowner shot and killed a home intruder, but police said all was not as it seemed.
The Corpus Christi Police Department said 56-year-old Douglas Watters called 911 last weekend, claiming that he shot a home intruder who attempted to make his way inside with a female accomplice.
When officers arrived, they found a 48-year-old man dead, and his alleged accomplice nowhere to be found.
Watters claimed he had shot the man only seven minutes before calling 911, but officers noted that the body, which was stiff and pale, had been dead for much longer.
He blamed police for taking too long to arrive at the home, but officers said they showed up 13 minutes after his call was placed.
When paramedics arrived, they were able to verify that the body had been deceased for several hours, not the minutes Watters reported.
Police determined that a pump-action shotgun found at the home had been used to shoot the man twice in the left torso beneath his armpit.
Watters was taken into police custody on the following day and charged with murder. He is being held on a $500,000 bond.
