A teenager accused of defiling a WWI memorial in Central Park was surrendered to the authorities by his father this Thursday evening.

Teenager defaces WWI memorial during protest

Charged with felony third-degree criminal mischief and a misdemeanor for graffiti, the 16-year-old, who reportedly defaced the memorial with the word “Gaza” in protest against Israel, is now facing legal repercussions, according to The New York Post.

A photo showing the young suspect in handcuffs, obscured for privacy, was shared by NYPD Deputy Commissioner of Operations Kaz Daughtry after the father turned him in.

“The despicable vandalism we saw earlier this week on the WWI Memorial will not be ignored, and will not go unpunished,” Daughtry said in a statement.

“One of the culprits was placed in handcuffs today thanks to the World’s Greatest Detectives. This isn’t simply juvenile hijinks, it’s an act of desecration that undermines the freedoms our heroes fought and died for.”

Around 1,000 young protestors who are critical of both the United States and Israel surrounded the Central Park WWI memorial on Monday during a “Day of Rage” demonstration, not-so coincidentally coinciding with Holocaust Remembrance Day.

American flag set on fire at WWI memorial

Amid these protests, a group set an American flag ablaze at the base of the monument, while others affixed stickers to the effigies of American soldiers on the monument that declared “Stop the Genocide. End the apartheid. Free Palestine.”

Footage capturing the demonstrators vandalizing the memorial and setting fire to an American flag revealed an absence of police at the site, as they were stationed to block protesters from nearing the Metropolitan Museum of Art, where the Met Gala was underway.

Like many of the young protestors swept up in pro-Hamas demonstrations that are raging across the nation, this was the teen’s first encounter with the law. He is a student at Tottenville High School on Staten Island.

Mom turns in murderous daughter

In another act of parental responsibility, a woman handed her daughter over to the authorities after identifying her in security footage following a fatal shooting over $60 in Memphis.

The Memphis Police Department located the body of the deceased man at a local park early Monday morning.

Surveillance footage caught a woman fleeing the scene shortly after the presumed time of the man’s murder and broadcast the video on the local news to see if any viewers could identify her.

One person did indeed recognize the woman… Her mother. The following day saw her escorting her daughter to the police department.

“I don’t condone violence. I don’t. If you do something, you will pay for it,” Jones remarked to WHBQ-TV about turning in her wayward spawn.

While Jones acknowledged her daughter was the woman in the video, she did not believe that her 26-year-old was the killer.

But despite her mother’s unwavering support, Kenyetta Hayes confessed to police about her encounter with the victim, who propositioned her at a Marathon gas station.

Hayes said the man offered her $60 for oral sex, but she decided to rob him for the cash instead of performing the act.

According to the police, Hayes went with the man to the park, then fatally shot him because she was “thirsty for money.”

Kenyetta was charged with first-degree murder in perpetration of a robbery on Thursday, and faces a potential life sentence, or even the death penalty if convicted.

Of the $60 she allegedly took a man’s life for, Kenyetta spent the cash on two hot wing combo meals for her and her boyfriend, and had $13 leftover in change.
